What is Stainless Steel Slip On Flange?
Slip on flanges are one of the simplest and popular flanges utilized in the pipping industry. These flanges can be characterized by a low-profile head whose length can be adjusted relative to its position. They can be utilized without a head if the space is less across the system. A slip on flange can be easily slid across the piping component and welded using one or two fillet welds. These flanges are widely seen in lower-pressure applications where the stress barrier is low. Their lower costs and easy installation processes are one of the many reasons these flanges are preferred by a lot of customers.
ASTM A182 F304 Slip On Flange vs ASTM A182 F316 SORF Flange
ASTM A182 F304 and F316 SORF flanges are the two common grades of flanges utilized across the piping industry. These flanges of both these grades are similar visually but can be distinguished via their chemical composition.
Differnce Between ANSI B 16.5 Class 150 Slip-On Flange and class 300 slip on flange
Class 150 and Class 300 are pressure classes in a slip on flanges. Pressure classes in a flanges can be termed as the maximum allowable pressure a flange can withstand when the temperature increases. The ANSI B 16.5 class 150 slip on flange is designed to withstand 140 psi of pressures at 600 degrees F. A class 300 slip on flange can withstand 570 psi of pressures at the same temperature. The 300 class flange is stronger and more robust than the class 150 slip on flange having the same bore size.
ASME B16.5 Slip On Flange Uses
Slip-on flanges are preferred economical flanges across the piping industry. These flanges are a flange of choice in low-pressure systems where there is little risk of spills or leaks. A slip on flange is very common in process lines for substances like steam, gas, condensers, etc. These flanges are utilized in firefighting lines, compressed low-pressure airlines, cooling water, etc.
