What Is Stainless Steel 321 Pipe?

Stainless Steel 321 Pipe is an austenitic grade of stainless steel that is stabilized by the addition of either titanium or niobium. The pipes in this range can withstand temperatures between 538 to 870 degrees C. Similar to other austenitic grades, this grade exhibits excellent forming properties. The pipes in this range can be easily welded in place in any form of welding procedures without the requirements of post-weld annealing. The items in this grade don’t polish well and are not preferred for use in a decorative material.

Difference Between UNS S32100 Seamless Pipe, SS 321 Welded Tubing, And SS 321 Erw Tube

UNS S32100 Seamless Pipe, SS 321 Welded Tubing, and SS 321 Erw Tube are the integral piping equipment within the 321 grade. Welded and Erw tubes are nearly the same however, a seamless pipe is completely different from the above two. The major difference between these three is the manufacturing process. A seamless pipe is manufactured, making use of steel billets, which are rolled over an extruded metal until it is shaped correctly. A welded tubing, on the other hand, is produced by welding together pieces of sheet or strip metal. An Erw tube is produced by cold rolling a metal and then welding it longitudinally.

DIN 1.4541 Square Tubing Oil And Gas Pipeline Application

Refining and drilling of oil and gas is a long process that deals with a range of by-products and processes. Many of these processes make use of highly corrosive material that would cause damage to normal grades of steel. The DIN 1.4541 is amongst a few square tubing that can suffice in these harsh systems where oxidation and carburization of steel are at the highest. The tubings in this range can withstand exposure to ammonia, hydrogen sulfide that occurs during the hydrotreating of the fuel. Apart from this, they can also be used in hydrocracking procedures where stress-corrosion cracking and embrittlement of normal metal takes place.

SS 321 Pipe Heat Treatment

The SS 321 Pipe cannot be hardened by heat treatment. The only process of heat treatment that can be performed on this grade is annealing. Annealing is performed at around 1605 degrees C, after which it is quenched with water. The process of annealing gives these metals superior corrosion resistance properties.

What Is A312 TP 321 Material?

The A312 Tp 321 material covers standard specifications of a seamless, straight seam and welded pipes and tubes of the stainless steel 321 grade. The material belongs to an austenitic grade, which is stabilized with the help of titanium and utilized in high-temperature and general corrosive service. These tubular products possess an excellent surface finish as they are annealed at high temperatures to give them enhanced strength and tolerances.
